From the Author, Wayne Thomas Batson...

Hi, Wayne Thomas Batson here. Thanks for all the kind reviews for Isle of Fire. I'm stoked that it's finding a home on so many of your shelves. Thanks to you, Isle of Fire has been in the Top Ten on the CBA Young Adult Bestseller List for three of its first four months on the market! That feat is due to my amazing readers! For any who come a'searchin' for a new book to read but know nothing of Isle of Fire, allow me to give you the inside scoop: Isle of Fire is a sequel to Isle of Swords. So if you begin with IOF, you'll likely find yourself on the outside of a fair amount of inside jokes. However, I've written in enough clues that you'll carry on just fine. Isle of Fire is a pirate tale. In this story you'll meet pirates, pirate hunters, and lots of innocents (and not so innocent) caught in between. You'll also meet the world's first pirates and a villain so cold he makes Bartholomew Thorne look like a Care Bear. But I also try to infuse my stories with a little more depth, so there are also some thought provoking themes, such as: how do you define treasure? And can even the worst rogues change? And what about this one parents: ever swear up and down that you'll never do or say something your parents did...only to do or say it when you yourself became a parent? What's the deal with that? Are we doomed to be just like our parents, to make their same mistakes? Or is there hope for change? Just a few hearty questions for the deep level readers out there. Til next time, sail on, but don't play with fire. ;-)

A Great Finish to this Piratey Adventure!

"Isle of Fire and the predecessor Isle of Swords give Disney's pirate franchise a run for its money! MR. Batson has done it again with fast pacing and plenty of excitement. He continues to throw curve balls at his readers by coming up with a brand new way for his odious villian Captain Thorne to exact his revenge on the British. Can anyone say Vikings? For more you'll have to get the book and read...but trust me, you won't be disappointed!"--James Somers, author of "The Chronicles of Soone."

Better than the first!

The "Isle of Fire" is even better the first book. After reading the "Isle of swords" I was thinking, ok, now what new invention or work of nature is he going to introduce. He completely blew my expectations away! I thought it was interesting about the Merchant. For more action packed books: next stop, Wayne Batson.

Fantastic

(This is Courtney) This book is an adventure story about pirates. Bartholomew Thorne was thought to be dead, but like any good villain, he's back, with the deadly help of the Raukar vikings and the evil Merchant! It's up to Declan Ross and friends to save London and the entire ocean from certain demise. Will England be turned into an Isle of Fire? Isle of Fire is an action-packed tale with plot twists around every corner. The characters are very vivid and you often find yourself forgetting that they are fictional. I normally do not like books of this genre, but Isle of Fire pulled me right in. I stayed up all night to finish it. I would recommend this book to everyone seventh grade and older because some of the violent images had me grossed out and are probably too much for younger kids. Overall, a fantastic book! You should probably read the first book in the series, Isle of Swords, before you read this one.

Best book of the year!

A swashbuckling drama from the best-selling author of Isle of Swords and The Door Within Trilogy, Wayne Thomas Batson. A long line of the evilest men in history, The Merchants, have funded and planned the worst catastrophes in the world... it's time to for them to strike again. The legendary blood-thirsty pirate Bartholomew Thorne has convinced a group of technologically advanced heathen Vikings to help him burn London. It's up to Cat, struggling with his terrible past, and Declan Ross's crew of extremely entertaining pirates to stop them. Add a hurricane, Greek-fire, a particularly nasty group of Berserkers, a gullible king, and a strange, bald lad named Hopper, and you've got the best book since Isle of Swords! For anybody who likes bang-bang action and plenty of pirates. ARG!
