Neville Wheeler has over thirty years of experience in helping people to overcome life-controlling problems which include addictions and compulsive behaviours.
The majority of this work has been within the YMCA in the UK, but he has also served people in voluntary and statutory youth services, adult substance misuse rehabilitation projects and secular supported housing projects.
During that time, Neville has served thousands of people and has worked with a variety of recovery programmes and models, seeing how each one works for different people.
He has worked at all levels, ranging from volunteering to project management. It is clear that Neville's passion and skill lie in face-to face work rather than the board room politics of stakeholders meetings, funding bids and competition.
Born in the county of Essex, England, and raised mostly on the south coast of Dorset. Neville spent his teenage years in the 1980s mixed up in the anger and rebellion that came along with the punk scene at that time. He finally accepted Christ as his Saviour in 1986. Work has seen him move around the country having lived and worked in the South, the Midlands and the North West.
This has also given him a wide view of programmes and how they work as well as different churches and common barriers and helps that exist in the church for those labelled as socially excluded.
As a Christian first and foremost, Neville is passionate to see people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. After a somewhat cynical approach to Christ-centred Support and Recovery Programmes, he has become convinced that the Gospel is what so many people are calling out for.
In response to this need, he has developed a number of training programmes for those wishing to work in this area and projects to bring the Gospel to people in a non-invasive way whilst never shying away from difficult subject matters.
Neville currently lives in South Wales with his wife Nora and where his grown up children and their families also live.
As life moves on, he is keen now to pass on the benefits of his many years of experience including the good, the bad and the ugly...so that as many lives as possible can be changed through what he has learnt.
Neville is available for training events and speaking engagements to share his wealth of experience and training for those who wish to bring the gospel to those in need.
