Misleading Description, Decent Story

This story isn't really written by the Knaufs who had a great father and son run on Iron Man leading up to this. It's by Moore, and you can see his name on the cover if you look closely on the picture of the item. Either way, it's not a bad story. It's kind of a stand alone story, a few issues long, following the roughly year long saga by the Knaufs following Civil War and Director of Shield. It's the last real "Director of Shield" story (summed up now in only 3 TPBs). De la Torre continues to amaze on art and makes the transition to a new writer smooth. Unfortunately he only opens the first two issues, and even then is gradually phased out with Pagulayan and Kurth. But you'd never know it. Even the colorist changes, but the transition is so smooth and the style maintained (a rare feat these days) that you'd be hard pressed to distinguish it. The weight of the story is rather self-contained, and doesn't carry much resonance from any of the Extremis related stuff, nor does it build toward anything Fraction does in Invincible Iron Man. It's a little more high-concept, golden age feel (giant flying brain as an enemy, anyone?) but it's kept down to earth by Moore who keeps the focus on characters and people, and the art, which feels very tangible, not cartoony or silly at all. Best part, Tim Dugan's Flying Commandos! And Iron Man's Alpha Team from the Director of SHIELD TPB (such a bummer what happens to them!) I recommend it with the warning that it's just another fun story, not a continuation or attachment in any needed way to other Iron Man stories. If you like what the Knaufs did, or the Director of Shield concept, then for sure you won't be disappointed. If you like the flash of Fraction's work, you might find this to be an interesting change of pace.

New job for Iron Man

A good book that introduces us to the new responsability of Iron Man within S.H.I.E.L.D. It has a great story that includes aspects from the past of Tony Stark. It also includes another old story between Nick Fury and Iron Man.
