Presents the latest information on steam, gas turbine, and nuclear propulsion, as well as auxiliary systems, ship stability, and damage control. This description may be from another edition of this product.
When it comes to Naval, or even civilian/land engineering systems and process primers this book is one of the best I've seen. I'm not talking about all that squishy HR/Management stuff. I'm talking about your hard core physical science stuff! Want to learn how air conditioning works? It's in there. Engines and motors? Yep. Steam cycle? Covered. Electricity? It's there from Ohm's law onward. The electrical section is the only section I thought could have been a tad bit better. They use the original formula and there's an easier, more memorable way for non-electricians to remember it, but the basics are still there. I can't think of any engineering/practical physical science book I've ever seen that explained things better in fewer words. And for the science-challenged, there are clear illustrations and pictures! I bought three of these for my young adult kids, and they love 'em!
