GREAT PRICE!

Best way to buy college textbooks! This vendors product was right on the money and I can't believe I haven't been buying my books like this all along.

Good introduction

I've already taken a year of high school Latin, but I wanted to take more in College, and this is the book my instructor choose. I think the material is presented in a gradual way, and I particularly like the treatment of the cases in the beginning of the book, however, I think it could do for a bit more completeness as far as the exercises go (a few more to use the vocabulary more in context), but seeing as it seems the author is attempting to keep the size down it is understandable. Also, I've used the website to review the content, it is particularly useful, but, there are a few annoying features, such as that the macrons are only used in some special cases, making me confused about whether or not I need them in a certain case or not, the rules are outlined on the website, but I wonder why I should memorize them since they are not a part of Latin, but some arbitrary rules made up by the web-site designer. All in all, it is a pretty good book, meant for a easy transition into Latin, but as could be expected for a smaller book, it suffers a bit from lack of completeness (mostly in exercises, she's done a good job of including detail for such a small book, and pretty good at spacing the material out (some more grammar-like books chunk huge amounts of information in a small space, but this book has done a good job so far (I've read up to Chapter 11). I would recommend this book to someone who has no experience in foreign language and wants to learn Latin without getting into the messy grammatical jargon (though I appreciate its usage).
