Sympathetic Overview But Secondary Work

Respect for all the artists. Decent coverage of modern times. Very light on sociological and historical contexts. Simply not the best introduction to jazz book, and far from a must have edition in any setting. Probably works well in an undergraduate class with professor filling in a lot of background. Shop for one or two stronger editions.
