I was teaching mathematics and computer science in the middle 1980's when the Ada wave began to hit the Department of Defense (DoD) contractors hard. The mandates to use Ada in all DoD contracts forced a local avionics company to immediately begin the shift over to programming in Ada. Since many of our students were employees there, we were also forced to change our course offerings. I immediately had to learn Ada and this book was one of the resources I turned to. At the time, I was fluent in Pascal and had some rudimentary knowledge of C. I found the descriptions and examples in this book very easy to understand and work through. There were some errors, but nothing that I considered serious. After going through the book, I was able to answer student questions in the computer center when they were stumped over their programs. I was also able to write the programs in Ada that were used in a research project that was funded through a grant. The stipulations of the grant were that I must use Ada in all my investigations.
