Helpful Shortcut

The International Wine Guide by Susy Atkins has been a great help. I've tried to develop my understanding of wines for years and just couldn't get a good handle or starting point. Her simple classification of broad groups inspired me to pick a type and focus mainly on that one type. The approach has been great. Her notes help me evaluate the different wines I try and see how they fit into the wine-tasting world. That gives me a reasonable starting point, especially in areas I am unfamiliar with, for instance- I decided to start with Reislings. I have tried all those locally available, evaluated and personally rated them and noted their prices. Now I am moving on to Sauvingnon Blanc. Her descriptions really helped me make progress. The guide is a clear, interesting, easily understood guide. Good pictures and a great price. I highly recommend it to beginners.
