there certainly are enough of those. Aptly titled, this book sensitively addresses the emotional doubts about everything from surviving the adoption process to managing the heritage-related needs of a child raised outside his/her native land. I appreciated the heartfelt happy ending stories as well as those with less happy endings. Uplifting but honest.
an enlightening read... will keep you on the edge of your seat!

this book is filled with a wealth of information, not so much on the step-by-step process of international adoption, but on the possible emotional roller coaster of feelings that comes with the process. it is so well written it is sometimes hard to believe it is non-fiction. i was kept on the edge of my seat, and had trouble putting the book down. i finished it in two days! a great read for anyone getting ready to embark on the emotional roller coaster that is adoption!
Great book!

I loved reading this book, cover to cover.. which I normally don't do. I tend to 'browse' books. This book is engaging, even though I am not a single mom, or adopting from South America. I found it very personable, and honest. It felt like a friend sharing her experience, regardless if it is my exact situation or not.
International Adoption: Sensitive Advice ...

It should be noted that this book deals with a single mother's attempt to adopt a child in South America. While it may be helpful to all prospective single mothers, those attempting to adopt institutionalized children from Eastern Europe will have concerns not addressed by this book.
An experience I could relate to and learn from !

As someone eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first adopted child, I found this a very valuable book, not because it was packed full of practical hints and useful suggestions, but because it described the kinds of problems, issues and feelings that any adoptive parent has. I think the fact that one of the authors was a single mother like myself made it even more relevant for me. If you are feeling bogged down the facts, forms and processes involved in adopting, this is the book to pick up and address some of those pent up emotions. It is also the encouragement you may need, from someone who knows what it's really like, that YOU CAN DO IT despite seemingly long odds !
