Although never an especially popular book with the general public, it is a well executed, valuable part of the history of late 20th century interior design. Rather than a typical showcase of interiors, the book typically features a two page spread on the designer with quotes about their philosophy followed by a two page spread of color photos of their work. Simple but effective. Thanks to the international mix of the great names of the day, it is not monotonous. Some photos are rare looks into the then-current design directions while others are photos that have appeared many times in various publications. Of those surviving, it is interesting to follow the stylistic development (or not) of the designers over these past 28 years. And it is interesting to see whose work holds up to today's taste, this reviewer's criteria for a truely classic designer. Definitely recommended for all interested in the modern history of interior design.
