INTENSIVE STRUCTURAL THERAPY

Dr. Fishman is probably one of the best exponent of the Structural Family Therapy model. In this book he expanded the basic concepts and interventions of the initial model. He introduced two valuable concepts: homeostasis maintanier(s) and recontextualization. In my practice with urban poor families I found that unless you eliminate or reduce the impact of those who perpetuate the symptoms (by ignoring or supporting) them nothing will change. Secondly, changes need a nurturing context to continue. DR. Fishman provide us with a new clinical tools.
