I think this book really gives fabulous insight to many, many aspects of the doubles game. From the importance of focus, attitude and anticipation to many different stategies to take advantage of your situation. I think Skip really simplifies and makes reading his book easy and very interesting. I play on a club doubles team at a B level approximatly 3.5 and I am constantly using this as a reference book. I also plan to buy one for my partner so that we are thinking along the same lines. I definitely would buy this book and I think it would work for an early beginner to at least a 4.0 player, if not higher.
A Decent Book About Tennis Strategy
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
This book contains a lot of good information about strategy in doubles. There are good sections about where to stand, where to move, what to focus on, and why. Its helped me improve my game.On the other hand, there is a fair amount of cliche and stereotyping about types of tennis players and how to treat your partner. This material is mostly in the beginning of the book, so you've either got to read through it as I did or skip ahead. The cliches makes a brief return appearance in the last chapter as well.Despite the shortcomings, Singleton's book will probably help your game.
