Book

This is a wonderful book, I recommend it highly. I listen to his radio program and his book is the icing on the cake. It gives you something to think about and goals to strive for.

The Perfect Travel Read

This is the perfect book to read on a trip- great tips and advice like his radio show, but also great insights and background from his life experiences. John's transparency and conversational writing style make it a fun read. As an artist and a businessman, I related to many of the challenges he's faced, and came away encouraged and entertained. I would highly recommend this to musicians and entrepreneurs- here's a chance to learn from someone who has stepped out into his passion, and is willing to share the good and bad. The "Big Life Questions" and "Did You Knows" were great sidebars and helped make each chapter practical as well.

Tesh helps you find the deepest desire of your heart

I recently got a copy of John Tesh's book "Intelligence For Your Life: Powerful Lessons for Personal Growth", and thoroughly enjoyed it. John's radio program is on my local station, and I always make it a point to tune in. I found the book to be quite inspiring, and reflective of how hard Tesh has worked to achieve the level of success he's attained. Another aspect of the book that I appreciated is that it also reflects the human side of how he got to where he is, and the hurdles he's faced. Overall, my perception of the books theme is that: you've got to get off your butt, start living your life, WORK towards achieving your goals and dreams, and help others and be 'of service' - as you embark on your personal journey. One of the other reviewers has mentioned, the "did-you-knows" which are interspersed throughout the book. John includes "did-you-knows" during his radio show broadcast as well, and I always enjoy them. All in all, it was an easy read, and I read the whole book in one weekend.

I got a lot out of this book

I have been listening to John Tesh's Radio Show for a couple years and I was interested in this book. It did not disappoint! I mostly enjoyed John's personal take on how to live a better life through his own trial and error. It's not that we don't know how to live a better life - it's that we forget, and this book serves as a good reminder. I also liked the practical tips on heart health and work. I only wish the book were a bit longer - and there were some pictures included. Maybe in the sequel...

A breezy read full of little nuggets

5 stars for what it is. No heavy philosophizing or psychologizing, nothing to hurt your brain. Just a breezy read full of little nuggets that covers all the essentials in order to live a life well-lived. Tesh writes in an approachable, conversational tone. And though I am neither a listener of his radio show nor a Christian, I couldn't help but like the guy, if not exactly agreeing 100% with everything he had to say - particularly his somewhat retro view on who men need to get back to. So why'd I pick up his book? I play piano and love his music. No matter whether you're a Christian or a musician, you'll come away with the same thought: Here's someone with a sincere and genuine desire to be a positive force in the world who's doin' it. For the particulars. The book is divided into 6 sections: Finding Your Passion; Focusing and Simplifying; Taking Care of Your Relationships; Taking Care of Yourself; Taking Care of Business; and Trusting God. Each section offers a few "Big Life Question(s)" to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. And there are plentiful "Did You Know" boxes filled with random fact tidbits liberally sprinkled throughout the book. I'm guessing this must be something he does on his radio show... What I most enjoyed and found most valuable about the book were the two personal stories he shared that really brought home the book's key points: How he got started in the radio/TV business, and how he finally came to play at Red Rock. If you're a Tesh fan, you'll find those alone worth the price of the book.
