Satisfied Cat Lover

I enjoyed this book so much I bought it as gifts for a few different friends. We even used this book for a cat-themed surprise 60th birthday party. What a hit! A definite thumbs up!

Nearly purrfect tales...

In over sixty bite-sized stories, Niki Anderson provides an interesting and inspirational stories involving cats -- dog lovers beware, you might be won over by a few of these! For example, Lucy the healing cat, friend to residents at St. Luke's home, won over even the most die-hard dog person by her gentle manner. Anderson has collected a series of true stories from history and recent times to enrapture readers with tales of heroism, dedication, friendship, love, perseverance, and more. Some stories are fairly typical, run-of-the-mill 'this cat showed up in our lives...' kinds of stories, but Anderson's gentle prose makes them nice to read. Other stories are nearly unbelievable -- such as Faith, the courageous cat in the London blitz, who won a medal for heroism which can still be seen at St. Augustine's parish church, or Jenny, the cat who sailed on the Titanic. All of these are done in a similar style -- this is good bedtime reading, or good morning reading; doing a story or two each day takes no time at all, but gives great delight. One is reminded here of the kinds of wonderful bonds that draw humans and animals together; one is also reminded here of the kinds of bonds one has with God. Many of these stories will 'preach', as a minister-friend of mine likes to say. Some cats are companions, others workers, others beings that we just don't know what to make of until some fateful time. Through it all, there is love and grace in all of these stories.
