Very helpuf in trip planning

This book came in very handy for planning a cross country trip. I found a great deal of information on areas we were passing through, and found other areas that I now want to go to. It was a handy one book reference to have instead of numerous ones considering we traveled over 4,000 miles on this trip!

Informative

This book is great for information, history and tourist ideas but only if you are going to be on one of a few major highways across America. We travelled to New England and it was very informative and contained tons of historical information about major cities in the direct path of these interstates, however once you were off the direct routes we were on our own. It was a lot of fun though to learn about the areas we did, so it is worth your time to pick this one up! I would also recommend using this in conjunction with your favorite road atlas as the maps are not very detailed or clear.

Inspiring!

Wow, what a wonderfully unusual guide! It's full of incredible photographs and is really engaging to both the mind and eyes. I appreciated the information on the little out of the way places a lot, and learned things about sites I already thought I knew well. If you are planning a road trip and need a companion, this book is for you.

Great Guide!

This is so much more than a travel guide. The photographs are fantastic - completely inspiring and exciting. I bought this guide with one small trip to the Pacific Northwest in mind, and immediately expanded my itinerary. There is so much to see and appreciate in this country, and USA: On The Road seems to show every fascinating little corner, both off and on the beaten track. It's very well written - informative, fun, and completely unique. I can honestly say I have never found another travel guide that comes even close to this one - what a find.
