This second edition of a widely used teacher text about helping junior and senior high school students learn to write brings to the fore many of the refinements about writing processes. This description may be from another edition of this product.
It's amazing how an "old" book talking about the writing classroom has so much to offer new teachers like myself. I appreciate how Kirby and Liner include a range of thoughts, including personal successes and failures, writing pedagogy, and practical exercises and projects to get students writing. It has restored my faith in the ability to survive the school system. Like our students, we do not have to feel smothered by mediocrity and should do our best to find ways to put life back into our classrooms and especially the art of writing.
Strategies for teachers
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 23 years ago
For teachers who have a hard time getting their students to write, this book is just for them. It is a compliation of strategies that teachers may use in trying to teach writing to their students. What I liked about this book is that the authors are teachers and the strategies that they list in their book have actually been implemented in their classrooms. The ideas in this book will be of great use to novice teachers as well as seasoned teachers who have run out of ideas. I highly recommend this book to everyone, it is easy to read and understand.
