A very usefull reference for the Intermediate developer

This book, is a very usefulll reference for the intermediate to advanced developer, its covers a myriad of topics, some which are not mentioned in other ASP.NET books, certainly not the ones I own, some of the best chapters in the book in my opinion were the following:Web ServicesXML and ASP.NETDirectory ServicesMesseging ServicesCustom Control DevelopmentA very good, and direct chapter on ADO.NETand my personal favourite, Localizing ASP.NET ApplicationsI am using this book in conjunction with Stephen Walthers ASP.NET Unleashed book, and find them both indespensible, where one book is weak the other is strong, yes there is some overlap, but seeing the same good from two obviously skilled writers and system engineers, lets the reader see more than one way to solve a common problem.I recommend both books whole heartedly!

Great refernce and learning material and what a website!

Well I picked this item up as a curiousity, since I have not heard of the author before and he seems to be absent from most of the .NET based forums. And to be honest I was surprised, the book does not waste to much time going over the history or background of ASP.NET, like other books on the market, but instead jumps right into the areas of ASP.NET serious devlopers need to know about.I did have some questions on some parts of the book, and found it very easy to contact the author directly (I even had a reply within a day of sending a question) and the author seemed very knowledgable on most areas of .NET.The only isuue I had with the book is that it is not in c#, however most of the exsamples converted with out too much trouble. Also you might want to check out the authors website, it has not been updated for a while, but the interface is quite good, and he also has some forum software in place, that apparently uses ASP.NET but how it works, is something I would love know (maybe he will post source code one day :) ), it is very polished indeed.as a final note a great buy, and an authoritive guide, great stuff.

Great book with great examples

I think the author, Scott Worley, did an excellent job to explain a lot of areas in the brand new platform with many useful code examples. Highly recommend for people who want to know a bit more about ASP.NETI have been working with ASP.NET for a few months now. In the beginning, I try to find a book with some real juice on the topic. But I found most of them are very similar to the QuickStart examples that provided with the platform. So, I dig my head into the free example and the beta quality documentation instead. Then, I came across this book last week. After I flip through a few chapters in the bookstore, I decide too have this book in my programming collection. Although I already have a few months of experience on the platform, I am excited to learn that this book still able to offer me some new information and it help to clear up some other topics for me as well. Such as security, state and cache management etc. At the end of the book, Scott put together a massive example project (compare to others books) that recap all the topics and show how they work together. You can¡¦t find this in most of the books.

At Last Information Not Hype

Inside ASP.NET is the sixth book I have purchased on the subject (...). In four of the six books over 40% of the text was spent introducing the framework with the same information available on the web. This book moved quickly yet comfortably and provided a reader with pertinent information rather than hype about a new technology. The writer's style is concise yet entertaining. It is an easy read yet a comprehensive voyage into the future. I recommend this book highly.

TripleASP.Net's Review of Inside ASP.Net

Author, Scott Worley, does an exceptional job of breaking down ASP.Net into small manageable pieces for the experienced developer. Inside ASP.Net provides the reader with a "very high" overview of almost everything concerning ASP.Net. The book starts out with a brief but thorough overview of what ASP.Net is. It then walks you through all of the key structural parts/concepts/configurations of working with ASP.Net. After this overview (chapters 1, 2, and 3), the fun begins. You immediately jump into working with ASP.Net. Again, the remainder of the book is very much like the beginning, quick and concise?...get in, get out, move on. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone with prior experience working with ASP.Net. This book is for the individual who is looking to pull all the information and concepts they previously learned together. If you are devoting most of your time to VB.net you will find this book an exceptional resource. For you C# users, you will find that you will need to do a little extra work to recode the examples?but I think you will find it well worth your effort.
