This book does exactly what it intends to: clear up the meaning behind an obscure zen poem. In so doing, it explains a great deal about the difference between deep and shallow Mahayana Zen practice, as well as the different curious aspects and levels of the experience of Samadhi. I have to add: Master Sheng Yen is an excellent and articulate Ch'an teacher. This book is really not to be missed. If you have found yourself needing the "next Level," this book could help bridge the gap.
