Highly recommend

One of my favorite books. Can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Amazing!

Immersive and thought provoking, this riveting tale of a woman living in three separate timelines is a captivatingly compelling read, that had me gripping the pages until the very end. A stunning follow up to When the Day Comes, it can easily be read as a standalone. I loved this book so much, that I kind of read it more slowly than usual because I just didn't want it to be over too soon, as it eventually was. Maggie is a hardworking young woman determined to make the most of her time in each era that she has been given, using her gifts to help others. I liked her respect for her gift, as well as her devotion to her family in each era, as well as the friends and family that knowing her secret support her every step of the way. I loved how the author brought each of the time periods to life, each compelling in their own way I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. I also liked how this book explores questions of trusting God with the future, as well as our free will, and using our gifts. The author did an amazing job handling the romances in each timeline, each man was intriguing in a different way, and spoiler--I love how it turned out! Overall, easily one of my favorite reads this year, I don't think I can do this amazing book justice as I loved it so much cover to cover, I wouldn't change a thing and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, next year cannot come soon enough! Compelling storytelling, weaving together 3 distinctive time periods into a compelling novel of faith, love, and courage, HIGHLY recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Favorite book of 2023

I didn’t think Gabrielle Meyer could make In This Moment better than When the Day Comes, but she did! There aren’t enough words to describe how much I love this book. Often, I find time travel books disjointed and contrived, but not In This Moment. The story flows beautifully from each time period. It’s a masterfully written story I couldn’t put down. My only complaint is I’m ready to read the third book in the series! This is worth taking the time to read! It’s my favorite read of 2023!

Great sequel full of history and romance!

Thank you to Gabrielle Meyer for sending me a copy of the book and allowing me to be a member of the launch team! All statements in this review reflect my honest opinion. I have been eagerly awaiting this book ever since I found out that When the Day Comes would have a sequel, and, wow, it did not disappoint! Meyer set a good balance of staying true to the spirit of When the Day Comes while still making In This Moment its own unique story. I loved that Maggie had a passion for healing and I thought that the way she fulfilled that passion in each timeline was very thoughtfully portrayed. The three historical timelines (1861, 1941, & 2001) complemented each other well and I liked seeing how Maggie carried lessons from each year into her other timelines. As was the case in When the Day Comes, it was evident that Meyer meticulously researched each time period. I live fairly close to Washington DC and have had the opportunity to visit it several times, so it was cool to recognize some of the landmarks mentioned in the story. Meyer's description of pivotal historical events literally gave me goosebumps at some points; her portrayals of Pearl Harbor and the aftermath of 9/11 were particularly poignant. One of my favorite features of the Timeless novels is how seamlessly Meyer incorporates the Christian faith into her work. Her characters' faith never seems preachy or forced, but the reader can tell that they sincerely believe in Christianity and strive to authentically live Christian lives. I particularly loved following Maggie's discernment process in this book. In When the Day Comes, Libby's discernment of which timeline she will choose is much more straightforward; Maggie's choice is much more complicated and it was so wonderful to read about how she ultimately chooses which life she will live through adulthood. Although I did prefer When the Day Comes slightly more than In This Moment, I absolutely loved reading this book and could not put it down. I can't wait to read the third book in the series, and I highly recommend this one to all readers of historical fiction, especially those who like to see romance and Christian values mixed in with the history!

fascinating sequel

"Suffering is not the worst thing in this world. We all suffer. Letting your grief hold you back from living is the true travesty." The premise of the first book was fascinating and innovative but Gabrielle Meyer takes it up a notch in this sequel. Maggie lives not just two lives but three during three different time periods. In 1861, she is Margaret, the daughter of a Senator. In 1941, she is Maggie, a Naval nurse, granddaughter of a Congressman, and daughter of two time-crossers. In 2001, she is Meg, a medical student and daughter of the President's social secretary. Each time period has a war looming and the political activity and environment at our capitol during these time periods is fascinating. I loved seeing the changes in Washington DC and The White House through Maggie's eyes. It's truly amazing how the author writes so clearly and reveals each subplot so coherently that there is no confusion as the reader moves through the time periods with Maggie every chapter. The first person narrative is fresh, honest, raw, and true to a twenty year old struggling with the biggest decision of her life. And those plot twists! There are quite a few so be prepared for some jaw drops and going back several pages to make sure you read the words correctly. The faith lesson of learning to let go and leaving God in control is a good reminder for all of us. What a fun journey this has been! Will there be a third book in the series? I sure hope so. I received the book from Bethany House via Interviews & Reviews and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
