I wasn't even a hockey fan but....

My boyfriend bought this book for himself and after hearing him laugh to the point of tears every time he opened it up, I decided to have a look. Freeberg painted a picture of hockey I had never really thought existed: a picture of real people and their lives and antics and mess ups and fall downs.... I am really glad I picked it up, I kinda have a different view of the game and it's participants now. Highly reccomended!

Sin Bin was a blast!

I am a HUGE hockey fan and I love anything that will get me closer to the game, besides being on the ice. When I heard of this book, I was so excited. I've always wondered what's going on in the Sin Bin, and what's being said! If you've ever been to an NHL hockey game and sat behind the penelty box this book is for you! I couldn't put this book down when I got it. The author is a brilliant writer and is very entertaining. I loved the different stories of him in the NHL. My favorite story was when he was in Colorado and had to site in that goalkeeper box on wheels and it started rolling backwards. Film at eleven! I can remember reading this in school and cracking up laughing, while it was dead quiet and people looking at me. I couldn't help it though. It was a great book! Buy it if your a hockey fan!

A Must-Read For Hockey Fans

I got this book because I heard about it and I'm so glad that I did. More then just talking about the penalty box, Lloyd points out exactly what the common fan often wonders about as to what is really going on behind the scenes. I like that he also admits that he has made errors. In fact, his chapter about the "phantom goal" was most hilarious. If you curse out officials as I often do, read this and see how totally confused they get at times. You still may curse out those referees, but at least you'll know a lot more about where they are coming from.A great read.

Really entertaining a must read!

I really enjoyed this book. Lloyd gives you an idea of what it's like to be part of the action in the NHL and he does it in a very light and fun way. He can really tell a story. The book's filled with facts, but it's not hard to read. I would recommend this book to anyone. Not only would someone who has played the game for many years enjoy this book, but it is also for the fan that has never stepped out onto the ice. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I enjoyed it so much; I plan to buy a number of these for presents during the holiday season.

Most entertaining hockey book EVER!!

I bought this book after reading it's reviews, and I am extremely glad I did. It's not only full of insights into the game, it's players, and officials, but is one of the funniest collection of stories I have read in a long time. And that includes supposed "humor" books, too. I was a big hockey fan before reading the book, but I am an even bigger one now. The only downside is having read this book in the summer it's made it even more difficult to wait for the season to begin. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
