A unique resource on Mozart's life and music

In Mozart's Footsteps brought me to the most amazing sites in Europe for over three months. I carried my copy from country to country, and learned that the places visited by Mozart and his family are still the most extraordinary things to see, particularly for someone like myself, who loves eighteenth-century art, architecture and music. Also, many of the places were a secret to everyone but myself, and not listed in other guide books.In each city I visited, I was able to read about Mozart's life and music. It was like experiencing a complete biography of Mozart, organized by country and city. The research in this book is staggering. It is also well written and lucid.In addition, I brought Robert Gutman's biography of Mozart with me in my luggage, along with my walkman. (Hopefully both will come out someday in paperback, as the weight of the two hardcover books is too much for the average traveler). I feel like I have had a graduate course in Mozart, that extraordinary genius, and a rare privilege: a "living" education in Mozart's footsteps.

A Guide To Go By...

Bravo! This book was enjoyable to read through and was painstakingly researched. The cities where the Mozart family travelled are discussed as they were and are now. You can feel confident, after reading this book, that you could go to these cities and experience Mozart in your travels. I would not hesitate to consult this book before heading off to Salzburg or Vienna. Recommended, especially at these prices!
