This exhaustive study of the Great Blizzard of 1888, nicknamed "The Children's Blizzard" on account of its catching school children (and their teachers and parents) unawares on an unseasonably warm winter day, was first published in 1947. The majority of reminiscences are of Nebraskans, making this a particularly valuable Nebraska history book. The stories are told in vivid detail by survivors, in years before age dimmed their memories. Although their declarations that the storm struck "...in all it's fury..." serve testimony that such memories are never dimmed.
