Basically this is a history of the capital city of Connecticut (and its immediate surroundings) seen through its architecture, parks, and monuments. Rather than detailing the city's past by sections, it instead does so by specific edifices (there are separate chapters on factories, government buildings, banks, churches, homes, hospitals, etc.), parks, and various monuments and scuptures that can be found throughout the city. Quite a bit of detailed historical, cultural, and civil information is given for each entry. Anyone interested in Hartford, whether visiting or armchair traveling, will find much provocative information in this book. Hopefully a 6th edition is in the works.
