Hilarious and short takes on faith and life

I'm Not Crazy But I Might Be a Carrier by Charles Marshall is a hilariously funny look at life and faith and how the two intercede. Marshall has a ferocious sense of humor that translates well to the page. I found myself giggling out loud repeatedly at the beginning of each chapter and then really paying attention to Marshall's deeper point. He uses humor to connect with the reader and then digs into some deep areas of faith in an accessible way. This is a book to savor, reading just one chapter a day to put some fun and faith into your day. I highly recommend the book for some one (especially a guy) who may not normally feel comfortable reading a devotional but could use a little more time with God every day. I'm giving it to my stepdad who has an amazing sense of humor (and a collection of jokes to rival any comedian) but little time to read and relax.

Taking on society as a whole and mocking it (and himself)

Casual Dress Friday does not mean to show up to work in a casual dress, one of the many lessons taught by Charles Marshall in "I'm Not Crazy: But I Might be a Carrier". Taking on society as a whole and mocking it (and himself) as he encounters it all, "I'm Not Crazy" is a laugh riot from the first page to the last, sure to infect Marshall's brand of insanity upon his readers so they may spread it as well. "I'm Not Crazy: But I Might be a Carrier" is a top pick for community library humor shelves and for anyone who just needs a good joke.

Does your day need a lift? Read this book and laugh

In this short book of humorous essays on life events, Charles Marshall not only makes you smile, chuckle and laugh, he gives you inspirational messages from the Bible that can help and guide you with these times. He even has Christian guidance for the less-likely event of an alien abduction. The book is divided into eleven parts and each essay is only two to three pages long. Marshall covers such topics as the three basic types of dogs: real dogs, mutant rat-dogs and kitty dogs; marital tips for the groom-to-be (this one just might get him in trouble with the brides-to-be): defining the rules of manhood; gallbladder surgery; stuck behind the prison bus of life; and childbirth. The humor is clean, kind and sharp, and Marshall has a way of finding humor in unlikely places. Who knew that a kidney stone could be so funny! He seems to take realities or truths and shines a different light on them. One of my favorites is "My Argument for Master Criminal Status." He has come up with a theory based mostly on watching "COPS" on TV, that petty criminals usually do not wear shirts, so the more clothes a person wears, the less likely he is to commit crimes-or at least petty crimes. He reinforces his argument by reminding us that we have never seen an Eskimo (who obviously wears lots of clothes) in Alaska pulled over by the cops and frisked while leaning against his dog sled. Charles Marshall has written previous books and has a syndicated column, "Laughing Matters." He ministers through his comedy with the message that even if life seems out of control or crazy, God is not. Marshall is definitely a "carrier" of what he calls "infectious inspiration." This is a great little book to keep nearby for a much-needed lift to your day. Armchair Interviews says: This would make a thoughtful gift to give anyone on any occasion.

Wonderful book

I'd never heard of Charles Marshall until I read this book. Now I'm a fan, big time. He's a syndicated columnist and this book is a collection of forty of his funniest columns. It's not just a funny book. Marshall has included a scripture lesson with each chapter, but it's the humor that got me. Try this one: Ever wonder why the Roman Empire fell? Because the soldiers wore man-skirts. How can you concentrate on fighting when your skirt keeps blowing up. Or how about all that inner office conflict--when you work by yourself. hilarious humor, insightful topics, delivered with a fresh, capitivating style that keeps the reader coming back for more. Recommended.

Crazy Good Humor

Charles Marshall is funny, no doubt about it, but there's no blue humor in his concerts or in his columns. He delivers side-splitting humor as he travels over 100,000 miles every year delivering inspirational standup comedy at schools and churches. He is a nationally syndicated Christian humor columnist. His book, I'm Not Crazy But I Might be a Carrier, is a collection of 40 of his funniest newspaper columns, plus unique, fresh spiritual insight on Biblical truths. His upbeat sense of humor, combined with his love for Christ, makes his Christian comedy outstanding. For readers both inside and outside the church, old and young, I'm Not Crazy is certain to leave the reader laughing out loud, and approaching ideas of faith in a whole new way. Why did Marshall write a book? He simply cannot cover all the comedic ground in a 45-60-minute concert. Writing a book allows him to explore his weird little ideas in greater depth, and allows him to spread the insanity at an even greater rate. Here's just one example: "So I would encourage all you soon-to-be-married young men out there to embrace the change in your life. Oh, and you might also want to purchase a clothes hamper. I think you'll find that you are no longer able to use the kitchen table as a dirty clothes receptacle." ("Marital Tips for the Groom-To-Be,") page 50.
