I'm No Hero

Back in about 1973 I was a young "Pup" at an all time low in my life. I was feeling sorry for myself because of how life was treating me. By chance, I attended a "Think and Grow Rich," seminar in Arizona. That's where I met Charlie Plumb. After listening to him tell part of his story, I bought a copy of his book "I'm No Hero." For the next couple of days I read his book (when I could see through the tears, that is). It helped change me and in turn , my life. . . I lost my copy when I moved from Arizona, but that's OK, the message found on it's pages have stuck with me. I found myself referring people to it when they were feeling low and I've bought and given a few copies to friends through the years. I just bought another copy this time for me, I hope. I can recommend this book as one that will make you stop and think about what's really important in your life. You will want to share it's message with those you care about.
He is a hero

I not only have read his book , I also had the oppertunity to hear him speak. If you haven't read his book , please do. These are the type of people we as a nation owe a great debt. His book and experiences will move anyone. As a morse code operator in the Vietnam era Army I can relate to the tap code they used .
Human Strength

I have to admit, I haven't read the book itself, but I have had the honor of hearing Charlie Plumb lecture on two different occasions when I was a student at UC Santa Barbara in the early to mid 1990's. He is the most compelling speaker, and I can only believe that his book does an equally impressive job of conveying this man's struggle during his days (actually years, if I remember correctly) of being a POW in Vietnam. His lecture was moving, but he managed to add some humorous antics in order to keep the talk upbeat. I am so excited that I found this book, and am counting the days to read it. For anyone who enjoys stories dealing with the strength of the human spirit, this tale is sure to deliver.
An excellent account of life with POW backdrop.

One of the few books by a Vietnam War POW written very shortly after the war. A view into history that has not been colored by outside influences. It leaves you with little doubt about the truly patriotic nature of the men who were fighting in the war and how they felt about their captors and those that would defend the North Vietnamese. It is an inspirational life story that uses the author's POW experience to show the inner strength that people have if they can summon it. There are lessons here that go beyond the history.
