A breath of fresh air!

Bravo! Finally a member of the clergy who "gets it"! Fr. William Forst has written a hard-hitting book articulating what many of us have felt regarding the leadership problems of the Catholic church. The author is a retired priest with a great deal of experience being on the "receiving end" of Church leadership.Using The Four Dimensions Of Aristotle, Fr. Forst advocates a systemic change in leadership all the way to the top. Writing from the heart, he envisions a return to the "Servant Leadership" of the early Christian Church--away from the current monarchial, patriarchal style of leadership dating back to the "Caesaro-Papism"(Caesar is Pope) Period of the 300s when Constantine took over the Church. Fr Forst states that the the symbols of royalty(titles, ornate vestments,special chairs,miters,rings etc.) have no place in today's world. He dreams of an end to the dysfunction of patriarchy and recognizes that "women are needed in every stage of leadership".Fr. Forst sums it all up for me in a quote made famous by Lord Acton: " Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". I challenge any thinking person to consider the points made by this author.
