Identity crisis as a predictor of happiness in adolescents young and old

INTRODUCTION CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK: "Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in Harmony." ― Mahatma Gandhi Worldwide changes are shifting the conditions in which adolescents prepare for adulthood and this has brought an increase in the need for specific and effective youth interventions and programs. Adolescence is a very important phase in the development pro cess as it is during this phase that the adolescent is virtually launched into the outside world. There is probably no more important a period in the life span of a human for the development of the self than adolescence. In the years between thirteen and the early twenties the adolescent gradually separates herself from their family both socially and emotionally as well as economically and mentally. They may also develop different tastes and attitudes, as they begin to find own way. Erik Erikson stated that the optimal time for achieving a sense of identity is during adolescence,
