This handbook succeeds in adding depth and color to a subject which can sometimes be somewhat dry and technical. It serves as an excellent companion to any major text of critical care. The emphasis seems to be on supplementing conventional thought with the wisdom of the author's experience rather than on summarizing information which can be found elsewhere.
