my thoughts

After reading Cinnamon, I was skeptical about reading this book, as Cinnamon was kinda dark. But this book was good. It followed the motif of young folks finding themselves despite their difficult home life. I love how Ice was such a "teen, " age appropriate. I love how baby girl grew up and found herself, and how she found puppy love. Ice's mother annoyed me. But overall a quick and god read.

The second book in the SHooting Stars Series

I was very wary on reading this book as a result of all the negative reviews. But scrolling down to some of the more earlier ones I realized that I should give it a chance and I wasn't really disappointed. Ice is an entertaining novel to the series that deserves 3 or 4 stars (since I like the series so much I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave the book 4 stars instead of 3). Ice tells the story about a shy teenager named Ice. When Ice is very young her school psychologist gives her the label elective mute because it seems like she chooses never to speak and in so many ways that is true. At 17, she lives with her narcissistic mother and her silent father and very rarely talks herself. The only time she ever really opens her mouth is to sing in her church choir or sing old jazz tunes to her father. Her voice is so beautiful that she finds she may have the chance to change her life forever, but not if her mother has her way. If you enjoy VC Andrews mini-series I recommend you read this. I can't wait to read the next books in the series (the 3rd being Honey). Enjoy!

I couldn't put it down!!!

This was a very good book. Ice seems very real. She is easy to relate to because everyone has experienced something that she went through. Whether it was love, or a bad date, or an obsessed, annoying parent. She is an outcast and she doesn't care. She represents what a lot of us would like to be. Ice gets into your soul and doesn't let you go. It's really good. You have to read it.

Wow

In some ways, I could relate to Ice. My grandmother is like her mother. She wants me to go out and date a plethora of boys, dance, cheerlead, and dress sexy. I hate cheerleading, by the way. But Ice, for me, was realistic. My grandma did try to hook me up with some guy and we only talked once. That's it. But Ice was fresh and good. A fun read. I really enjoyed it and hope that the ghostwriter can continue writing good books...not like that horrid Hudson series that (Thankfully) ended.

Draws you in...

But you can tell it's a GW. Ice surpised me, I was expecting a usual pattern theory book or something more bubble gummy like the other mini-series books... but Ice has a voice. Her story drew me in, made we want to read the final novel, the one hopefully the girls will get together in. Unlike the earlier series this series seems to revolve more around the outside issues in a girl's life. More about their families and their relationships than the boring teenage tribulations of life. It was still too short and I would have much rather had a full book, but I shall wait, and hope for Rose to be just as good.

Ice

I thought, even though these books are nothing like the older stuff, that this was a pretty good book. I wish they would go back to the old style and make the books longer and as captivating as they used to be. These new books seem like they are trying to reach a younger crowd. But other than that I thought Ice was very good and can hardly wait for the next book. I am a loyal V.C fan and will always be!
