I received only half of the book

I don't know how the content of the book is. I received it and immediately put it away to wait for my son's birthday. I should have read it before wrapping because as soon as I opened the book, the few pages that were in it fell out. I tried to make it work, but quickly found that most of the pages were missing entirely.

Love it!!

GREAT BOOK FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS IS VERY COLORFUL, THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST BOOK FOR ALL MY 3 KIDS,WE OWN 2 OF THEM.

I Love It When We Read Together

My daughter has had her copy of I LIKE IT WHEN..., by Mary Murphy, for nearly two years. Even thought it is geared toward babies and toddlers, my 3 year old still finds this book very enjoyable and very comforting. It is still a good book to fall asleep to. I LIKE IT WHEN...is a series of interactions between a young penguin and an adult caregiver. With no names or defining details, the penguin pair can be mother/child, father/child, grandparent/grandchild, older sibling/new baby. The only requirement for the type of relationship displayed is love. Beginning with " I like it when you hold my hand" and "I like it when you read me stories," continuing on to "I like it when you hug me tight," and "I like it when we dance around," and ending with a big "I love you," I LIKE IT WHEN...models simple intimacies so important to a growing child. The illustrations are simple, cute, and colorful, and the message is reassuring, endearing, simple, and clear. Even though we both have I LIKE IT WHEN...memorized, my daughter still wants me to read it to her page by page, so that we can act out each interaction. Each page demonstrates a very special one-on-one communication between adult and child; something that all kids find fundamentally necessary in their young lives. This book basically just makes my daughter feel happy and loved. And that makes me happy, too.

Fabulous book - encourages good behaviors

I love how this book encourages all the things that you would like for your little one to learn to do. "I like it when you hold my hand." "I like it when you try new things." Cute, cute illustrations with a parent and baby penguin doing all the things talked about in the book. It's a 'must have' in my baby shower gift bags!!!

Great for connecting with your child

My 22 month old daughter just loves this book. Each page has a small sentence that begins, "I like it when..." and ends with something a child would like, for example, "you let me help", "we splash about", etc. The pictures with their primary colors and penguin illustrations always elicit a smile, and the words with their simple messages convey heartfelt feelings to mother and father and child. We enjoy acting out the pages, especially when it comes to giving hugs and kisses. During mealtimes, when we try new things, I remind my daughter of that page in the book, and she gets very excited.I truly feel that this book is more than a book to teach reading...it is a book to teach connectedness between parents and children. And that is far more important at this age, maybe at any age.

MY 2 YEAR OLD AND I LOVE THIS BOOK!

The vibrant colors and simple text caught my eye in the book store, but both my son & I fell in love with it the first time we read it together. After only a few readings he began to "hold my hand". I have given it as a gift several times. You can't go wrong with this loving book between parent and child.
