Compelling, A Must Read

I laughed, I cried as I read this book. This story pulled me in from the first page. I could not put it down. Judy and Courtney unveil for the reader the painful path to recovery they found in the aftermath of a terrible automobile accident. Filled with faith, the book follows them on their journey as they deal with the physical and emotional implications of a child's death, recovery after traumatic brain injury, and legal process. The book includes practical help as well as spiritual insight. A must read.

Stirring and Inspiring

I couldn't put this gripping story down. My heart broke for Judy who not only lost a grandson, but who lost her daughter (as she knew her) due to a TBI. Compelling emotions issued from a mother's heart when she realized she could make no decisions for Courtney's recovery because her daughter's life rested in her husband's hands and his decisions for her medical care. Just as I was rejoicing that Courtney survived the accident, she had to face another unthinkable ordeal that would have crushed the average person. Thankfully, through it all, Courtney held on to become the remarkable, Godly woman she is today.

Very touching and inspirational.

I could not put this book down. I would recommend this book to anyone dealing with tragedy and a TBI.

Couldn't put it down

This is an amazing story of God's love and human perseverance. I sat down just to look through the book "for a minute" and 2 hours later I was still reading. This book will inspire you!

Inspiring

With one brief phone call, Judy Martin-Urban's life changed forever. Her deeply personal portrayal of the complexity of mourning her grandson while remaining hopeful of her daughter's survival and recovery will touch everyone who reads it. Judy openly acknowledges all of her conflicting emotions surrounding the car accident. Her honest discussion of the accident itself and the devastation that resulted underscores the fact that one choice can change an entire family forever. It took a great deal of courage and faith to share her family so publicly. The book is enhanced by Courtney's description of recovering from traumatic brain injury. It is an effective juxtaposition to read the account from the mother/grandmother and then to read how it feels from Courtney's point of view. This book should be in every traumatic brain injury recovery center and support group library.
