So far, so good!

Eric Schaeffer is a very sharp writer. There were mulitple reviews for this book that I didn't think did it any justice. I rarely read books for pleasure, but this one caught my eye after watching his documentary on Showtime. I'm already through the first 100 pages and I just received the book yesterday. If you like Eric's work, you will enjoy this book.

Great book! -(if you're not sexually repressed and have an intelligent sense of humor)

I loved this book. I could not put it down! I wouldn't suggest it to just anyone, though. This book is not for you if you are a sexually repressed, uptight person. The humor in this book is crude at times, but always intelligent, in my opinion. I'm an instant fan and can't wait until Mr. Schaeffer writes his next book!

It isn't pretty...love seldom is.

Eric Schaeffer has intrigued me ever since seeing FALL some time ago. His movies seem to pop into my life at the exact moment I absolutely need to be reminded that at least one person in this world understands. This book shows love and relationships in all their vivisected glory. He doesn't lie. He doesn't even gloss things over. It is a rare event when an author truly reveals our humanity by stripping naked and flogging himself for our amusement. Mr. Schaeffer once again allows us to be disgusted by the tales which will force us to look a few seconds longer in the mirror at our own dysfunction, repression and useless guilt. I highly recommend this book for it's literary worth...oh, and the amazing cookie recipe.

I love this book!

I'll be honest. I used to hate on a lot of things in my life, people, family, actors, books. After much introspection and spiritual practice over the years, I came to the (obvious) realization that my hate should never have really been directed at any outside agency. It was my own displeasure over how certain areas of my own life were going. I am now man enough to admit that. I say all this basically to underscore my feeling about this book. If you are not afraid of looking at yourself, truly, honestly and without reservation, you will love this book. You'll laugh hard, often, and might even get choked up from time to time. You'll see youself for sure and that will bring you great joy and some pain. At least it did me. It's raw, sexy, real, hilarious and definitely not for the faint of heart.

One of a kind

Eric Schaeffer lets it all hang out: the good, the bad, and the ugly. His work is self-promoting and self-indicting by turns, just like the most interesting people in the world usually are. It's funny and sad and infuriating and immensely readable. Schaeffer has the prose equivalent of an awesome gift of gab, and just when you wish he'd shut up for one doggone minute is invariably when he galvanizes you with a memorable turn of phrase or startling insight. Read this book; you won't regret it.
