Hypoglycemia is most often associated with diabetics and their overreaction to insulin, but the fact is that hypoglycemia can exist in the nondiabetic person as well. This concept has been too often ignored, leaving a lot of hypoglycemic people asking why they feel lousy. This book is a great starting point for finding some answers. The checklist of possible symptoms of hypoglycemia is quite thorough and also quite surprising. The self-monitoring workbook is a terrific follow-up for those who want to make dietary adjustments to see if they can benefit from the changes. None of Ms. Flegg's suggestions for altering diet are far-fetched--they are based on sensible observations and favorable results from real people who have tried them. The author cites various diet plans and describes how they fit the same principles she espouses for achieving a healthier lifestyle. Although she is not a doctor, Ms. Flegg's firsthand knowledge of the subject lends valuable insight to tackling this problem. Even if you aren't hypoglycemic, chances are that the demons in your diet could use a little taming--this book will point you in the right direction.
Very Helpful

I am newly diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I have had symptoms for some time now but it was always passed off as stress and anxiety. I am awaiting an appointment with a nutritionist but as you know, sometimes you have to wait a whole month before seeing someone. So in the meantime, I have found myself fumbling for information on what to eat and do. I bought this book. First one I have read about hypoglycemia. I have been very pleased. This book is very encouraging (I can see myself rereading to boost diet motivation when necessary) and offers lots of information. This book made me feel less overwhelmed with the disease and have given insights on how to live with it by changing my diet. I have also ordered the Krimmel Handbook but that has not come in yet. If I like that one, I am planning to order the cookbook.
Great Source of Information and Easy to Understand

I have suffered from headaches, dizziness and shortness of breath for over 20 years. I was eating a lot of sweets and fruit to stop the dizzy spells. After reading Anita's book I was able to track my symptoms directly to my eating habits. I have changed the way I eat and have felt great for months. The few times I eat poorly (i.e. too much sugar) I have a headache within 30 minutes. This book has helped me understand the direct link between the foods I eat and the way I feel. Instead of using sweets to feel better, I make sure I include protein in every meal. Thank you for the information to be able to articulate to friends and family why I now refuse the high sugar treats they offer.

This book makes sense of the causes and symptoms of hypoglycemia. Throughout the book Anita shows how fluctuating blood sugars can be controlled to improve health and well-being beyond one's hope. Thank you Anita.

After struggling with Hypoglycemia for 2 years, I found that there was little information available on the subject and every book or article that I read, pointed to a specific diet. After reading Anita's book, I found that listening to my body and reacting to its needs, was exactly what I needed. Hypoglycemina affects people in many different ways and there isn't one diet that works for all. Anita has certainly done a lot of research on the subject and it was an easy read with lots of useful information. I would highly recommend it to anyone suffering from Hypoglycemia. I also enjoy Anita's weekly Hypo tips via email.
