When Richard Goetzke, vice president and chief of security for a major bank, meets former battered wife Deanna, he wants only to bring happiness to the woman he sees as hurt and betrayed. This description may be from another edition of this product.
As co-author of the book I can understand the comments the lady from Michigan made. However, unless one has experienced domestic abuse they could not understand why one would stay and take it. Fear, feeling of helplessness, et cetera. In particular, in my case where the person attempted to murder her previous husband the level of fear was unexplainable. The lady from Michigan should seek out and talk to victims of abuse and perhaps then she would understand. I was fortunate enough to reach a point of escape before it was too late. Unfortunately, many victims do not.I have waited a long time to respond to this critique in the concern that my comments would be in the interest of selling books. The true facts are that more than 5,000 people have read the book and the majority of feedback I have received is positive. There were 15+ reviews of which 3 or 4 were negative.I have moved on and for me the book was closure. Those who are interested in reading this book should know that it is the truth. She was "angry at the author for staying..." Once I was out of the situation, you have no idea how I too was angry. But now live is good and I am at peace with my life. Thank you.
