How Ya Livin' gets 5 stars from me

Jonathan Luckett's book, How Ya Livin' is a must read for anyone who likes to know the main characters in dept. The book is very detailed, hence the 651 pages. Every page is filled with laughter, love and most of all DRAMA; you never know what is going to happen next. Jonathan takes you to locales in Jamaica, New York, D.C. and Baltimore. Each of the main characters Trey, Vince and Erika have personality traits and flaws that could easily be from someone in your past or present. The twists in the story are unexpected and well placed so that the climax of the story is mind blowing. Trey, Vince and Erika take you on a ride that you don't want to get off of. Way to go Jonathan, great book. I can't wait to read your other adventures.

Evolution with Friends

This book was a great read. The three main characters (Trey, Vince, and Erika) draw you into their lives as if you were there with them. You see Trey evolve from a "playa" to a one woman man, but not without trials, turmoil, and his own self-doubt. Vince, sees that all women aren't the same with a little friendly encouragement from an expected but yet unexpected source. Miss Erika, sees that all men aren't what they seem to be on the surface or on tv for that matter. This book was a great read although it is thick but once you start reading it and get intrigued with the characters the pages fly by. Mr. Luckett, did an excellent job writing this book.

How am I livin? Good now that I have read this...

This book is truly a classic. The length should not be intimidating, on the contrary, it is very inviting. Once you start reading about the lives of Trey, Erika, and Vince you will want to read more about them. The chracters were very well developed. The storyline was very interesting, it was filled with drama and plot twists. This book is truly "erotica" Mr. Luckett did a good job of making the characters and their "adventures" come to life. I feel there were the perfect number of sexual encounters/love making sessions in ths book. It helped the reader see life through the eyes of the characters to be able to experience what they were feeling in vivid detail. This book rightly has worked its way in my top 5 list. I will be buying several copies and giving them out as Christmas gifts. Mr Luckett thank you for blessing us with your gift. This is a wonderful read!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Blockbuster!

I LOVED this book! What can I say about HYL??? Sensual, drama-filled, deep, rich characters, snappy dialog, and a fast-paced read. The book is big--but after reading a few pages, I could see that I wouldn't be putting it down anytime soon! And I whizzed through it because of the pacing! Wonderful! It's the kind of book you don't mind staying up until late in the evening with, because you want to know what happens next!I loved the characters--Trey, Vince, and Erika, are the main ones--three best friends looking for love--in all the wrong places! But there are a host of "supporting characters" that jump off the page and come alive with zest and color: Trey's nasty boss, Bernard John Marshall; Trey's lovers--too numerous to name here; Vince and his women--Desiree, Angelique, Maxi; Erika and her boos...the list goes on...a mysterious woman named Giovanna, and another one named Amber...without giving the story away all I can say is wow!!!!The situations presnted within--love, sex, friendships, racism, homosexuality, to name a few--all makes you stop and think. And that's what I loved about this novel--the fact that I'm going to be thinking about these characters and their situations for months to come. That says something about Luckett's writing! Buy this one...you won't be disappointed!

HYL Characters are Livin' Like Whoa !

How Ya Livin' is one of the best books I've read in years. I was immediately enthralled by the in-your-face saga of three savvy friends: Trey, Vince, and Erika as they encountered newsworthy dilemmas during their quest for meaningful love and raunchy sexcapades. The issues are so layered and intense their bond is threatened. Trey and Vince are opposites on the surface, which often fuels flames. Erika is witty and fiesty as she attempts to balance their differences. All three are sometimes vulnerable and sometimes confident but always sexy.I found HYL to be a page turning, roller-coaster-reading trip through life's splendors and ills. I was hypnotized by the brutally honest individual complexities of the characters. Readers should also anticipate the treat of colorful sub-characters who will cause you to gasp as your eyes pop, as Jonathan Luckett teasingly unfolds their secrets.Love, betrayal, loyalty, sexual insecurities, corporate politics, friendship, and honesty are only a tease (yes!)of the topics explored within the 650 pages. After becoming instantly hooked by the twists and mysterious clues, I finished reading it in just a few days. Luckett's talent jumps in your face as you are refreshed by his ability to pace the story, while mesmerizing the reader. The words flow and dance into the reader's mind and it's hard to let go, or put the book down.Fans of erotica will be captured by the spicy(literal in one scene), raw love- and sometimes just plain un-cut sexual encounters! If you have never sought erotica, you will be lured because Luckett spends quality time (ump!)creatively depicting intense sensual unions.Personally I found a comfy familiarity with the ambience which is artistically present throughout the story. Cultural facets such as jazz, hip hop, coffee houses, art, multi-ethnic attire, nightclubs, nature, and an eclectic language is yet another avenue which serves to showcase Luckett's skills as a great storyteller. The author set out to do a character novel and did he ever! I foresee this book being recommended throughout the coming ages. Luckett's polished prose is poetic and gritty as he gives birth to this captivating tale of search and discovery. Luckett is gifted and gives readers pure pleasure.
