This inspiring book shows how the team of mother, father, and baby can explore and discover together the joys of human mobility. Full-color charts, photographs, illustrations and detailed yet easy-to-follow instructions are included.
I have read nearly all of the books in the Gentle Revolution Series and all of them are very pleasant and encouraging. These books are really only for those parents who want to make a tremendous effort on behalf of their children and who believe that their children are one of the highest priorities in life. These programs involve much time and enthusiasm on the part of the parent. I am using these programs with my son. At several days old he was holding up his head, 2 1/2 weeks he was rolling over from tummy to back, 5 weeks old he made his first scootching movement, at 2 1/2 months he was rolling from back to tummy, by the end of four months old he was creeping on hands and knees and beginning to pull himself up onto things. This is an amazing program and I plan to use the methods for any children I have in the future. I also did not follow the book 100% so I can only imagine that if I had I may have acheived even better results with my baby.
Intelligence can be physical too

This book is quite a breath of fresh air - addresses an area that has been ignored. Pity that it's on limited availability at this time. This is a guide to how parents can encourage and maximise the opportunities for babies to develop physically (from birth to pre-school). The underlying premise here is that not only is a baby a latent genius intellectually, but also physically. The book shows how babies have to progress one step at a time, from crawling, to creeping, to balancing, to brachiating (ie swinging), to standing, to walking, to running. Various exercises are suggested for each stage to help development along. The key is that the development of each motor skill corresponds to the development of a specific part of the brain that manage such activity (medulla, pons, cortex, etc). Each activity is a prerequisite and foundation for the succeeding one. Mr Doman asserts that physical development will stimulate and maximise mental development. If you're looking for scientific research and citations for his assertions, you won't find much, as he says that most of the conclusions and practices were developed in-house at his Institutes. The exercises (and instructions for making various equipment) are well described, with many photographs of joyful children doing them. Like his other books, Mr Doman's joy with his work and with children clearly shines through, and reading his book is an uplifting experience. More controversially, he is an advocate of the baby spending more time on its tummy in order to develop the ability to crawl & creep. An increased risk of SIDS? He is also very negative on strollers and playpens that restrict mobility (and by implication, physical and mental development of the baby). To an extent, one will have to choose the extent to which one wants to integrate his recommendations into busy lives. Personally, my conclusion is that what he says makes sense, and I will certainly try his recommendations after the birth of my first child.
THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!

My mother usd the Glenn Doman series with me when I was a baby--I was reading at 2 1/2 yrs. old--not just kids' books, but the newspaper, or the Bible...!! In 6th grade I was reading at college level, and now I am using the revised and expanded program to teach my 3-yr-old and 3-month-old how to read, do instant math, speak and read foreign languages, etc.... It sounds so absurd, but it's proven, biological fact--just think how much a baby's head grows over the first year of life!! They are born with enormous potential. The first six years of a child's life are CRUCIAL; either you can exponentially increase their inborn, natural genius, or you can start dumbing them down from birth. We all have the same genes as Einstein did--those of Homo sapiens. In the nature vs. nurture debate, Glenn Doman clearly reveals that in the case of intelligence, environment is everything!! Of course you want to give your kids the best start in life--for your future and theirs, you need to read this book!!
This is a special book

I am torn how to rate this book. I have read all of Glenn's books and have attended 2 weeks of very intensive seminars, and know the preciousness of this book, but I'm not sure a newcomer can appreicate what they have. The colorful chart in the front and back inside along is countless hours of research and his been taught to doctors in professional type seminars. As Glenn might says, this chart alone is worth so much. This book is a very detailed reference book, yet easy to understand, but please take the seminar if you have a chance. Go to iahp.org If you want an intelligent child, this book is his best work. Not the how to teach you baby to read, or math or encylopedia knowledge. This is my bible in terms of having to continue to refer to it.My son at 2.5 yrs could run a mile. At 3.5 can swim independently about 20 yrs.But more importantly, the physical program allowed his respiratory system to talk earlier and at 3.5 is doing silly poetry and conversation of a 5 yr old. But even more important, is the neulogical development of his brain. The left right left right hemispheres talking as we talk our walks. MAKE SURE THEY CRAWL! Don't be so proud of your kids that they walk so early on. Crawl crawl crawl. It is vital!CAN THE STROLLERS! Your hurting your children. It's sickening to see a 3,4,5 yr old in those contraptions, while my 2 yr old is running. I'm just not sure a casual reader would pick this all up from this very informative book, which I know the authors spent lots and lots of time on. Good luck.

When it comes to improving our children's life there are not enough stars in heaven to rate this book and the contribution Glenn Doman has made to mankind. It is dirt simple, a developing brain needs lots of oxygen the more fit your child's body is the more oxygen it can deliver to the brain My degree is in Education, and I am a student of life and how we, and why we learn, Glenn and Janet have written several books that clearly explain why and how to increase your child's potential. The philosophy is sound and the methods are well proven. There is but one thing to consider, are you willing to develop children that are smarter then your self and give them a real chance to excel. If so read the books, understand the philosophy and consistently employee the methods. Your children will be greatly rewarded!!
