Great Advice!

I am convinced that this is the book to buy for high school students who are preparing to take the SAT and/or ACT tests. It is a well-written resource guide full of advice from teenagers who have gone through the experience of taking the tests. It has tips, strategies and helpful hints in all areas even with the specific academic sections of the exam. It's an "all in one" book. I am a teacher and I also tutor students who are preparing for the exams and this book is the perfect resource book to help them along.

Outstanding!

My children are as different as night and day. One read everything he could to improve his SAT / ACT scores. The other -- don't even mention reading any book that is not required. That is why this book is perfect for him. How to Survive the SAT (and ACT) is written in an easy to read format. My son can just pick up the book, open to any page and read a segment. He does not have to read the entire book to benefit from the advice. The advice is given by students who have taken the SAT / ACT. This is more powerful than advice from a parent or teacher. Students listen to their peers more readily than to an adult. In addition, students share the experience of the test. They share what they did correctly and what they would do differently. Since reading this book, my gift to high school seniors will be a copy of How to Survive the SAT (and ACT). It will make a wonderful and appreciated gift.

incredibly helpful, fun, little nugget of a guide!

My son's basic SAT scores were high enough yet he needed to improve the score of the writing portion. We read this book. Not only did he and I actually enjoy this easy-to-read guide(so much is first-hand commentary by a diverse group of kids his age) my son improved his score by 130 points! This is after two previous takings of the test where his writing score stayed the same. This book stands out for these reasons: 1) personal tips and commentary are fun, interesting, relevant to SAT test-takers 2) smart and no-nonsense prose and presentation, great-looking format, easy to navigate 3) digestible: just the right amount of information 4) the most relevant information

Brilliant companion

This book should he handed out to all high school students. While other guides focus on the problems encountered on the actual test, this guide offers tricks for conquering the test as well as how to prepare for the experience, types of study methods, etc. I gave a copy to my niece and nephew - they both said it helped them raise their scores ...
