This thoroughly updated edition of the best-selling book gives all classroom teachers, special educators, and administrators an arsenal of adaptable and ready-to-use strategies, lessons, and activities. How to Reach and Teach All Children in the Inclusive Classroom is a comprehensive resource that helps teachers reach students with varied learning styles, ability levels, skills, and behaviors. The authors offer a team approach that includes parents, colleagues, and learning specialists, enabling teachers to guide diverse groups of students in grades 3-8 toward academic, social, and emotional success.
This book is an excellent resource for general education teachers, as well as special education teachers. It is full of reproducible forms and activities. And what I like about the "activities" is that they aren't just all worksheets like many books of this type are.....many are directions for doing an activity. The philosophy the writers have regarding special education is so common sense and so student centered. It isn't just about doing wjat is required by law (federal, state, district). It is about understanding that ALL students deserve to learn.

The text is a hands on practical guide. It is not an in depth resource but is a fantastic starting place.
Should be a college text

Maybe some colleges are using it as a text. I don't know. This book makes it easy to find many helpful ideas for helping all children in the regular classroom. In many school systems, the classroom teacher and the parents have one or two meetings a year with the special education team. Here they gain insights from the team and from the psychological evaluation. These evaluations are often locked away for the sake of privacy at school although parents are allowed to have a copy. Access to the information is not easy for other teachers although it could help them address the children's needs better. This book is well worth studying and applying its suggestions.
Excellent Resource Book

I am a middle school English/language arts teacher. It is a great resource book if you are or aren't involved in an inclusion classroom! I would recommend it to anyone in education!
A Must Have!

This book is a must have for both the beginning teacher and the veterans. There are thousands of hands-on practical ideas that you can use tomorrow to reach all the students in your classroom. Some of the catagories range from English language learners, gifted, ADHD, to communication disorders. The best part of this book is that is all in one place. I wish someone would have given this book to me when I was a student teacher or beginning teacher.
