Secret pleasure for our 9 y.o.

Our daughter never admits to liking this book, but it just keeps turning up in the pile in/next to her bed. She's very picky and usually avoids picture books so this is high - if unspoken - praise. The writing an pictures are charming, and avoid the preciousness you might expect. Warmly recommended.
