100% Responsibility

How to Create a Magical Relationship by Ariel and Shya Kane is a very honest and powerful book. Using touching real life examples, the Kanes set the foundation for creating a magical relationship. The ideas expressed in the book are truly life changing and have the power to transform an ordinary relationship into a magical one. For instance, contrary to the idea that a relationship is a 50/50 deal, the Kanes assert that each person is 100% responsible for how the relationship is going. In my experience, this empowering concept can pave the way for compassion and forgiveness by taking away the right to blame your partner. How To Create A Magical Relationship is supportive of strengthening your relationship with yourself, and as a byproduct, everyone you come into contact with. Whether you are single, dating, in a relationship or married - it matters not. The wisdom in this book is so incredibly valuable that you don't want to miss it!

A phenomenal and groundbreaking book!

This book is incredible and inspiring. The authors approach relationships (both to ourselves and to each other) from a very pragmatic angle. They put the onus of the relationship on the individual: "It takes two to fight and one to end the fight" is something that I really can see now. I recognize myself and my patterns of behavior in my relationships more clearly than ever before. For example, how my unexamined, mechanical behaviors can trigger unwanted reactions and patterns from other people (especially people who are close to me like my parents). I see how I can cause a chain reaction to occur and I now have the ability to either 'go there' or take a brand-new road. I don't have to be a victim anymore and can instead take 100% responsibility for my life. To the spiritual seeker, a book like this is a blessing!

What I Didn't Want To Hear, And How I Heard It

This book is amazing! It's such an easy, quick read and incredibly smart in the advice it conveys. My relationships have been transformed all across the board, since reading this book. From dating to relationships with friends and family, I've really begun to listen to what other people are saying. Just listening to them from their point of view has made my life easier and more fun. Here's an example: I was on the phone with my father and he pointed something out to me. For a moment I didn't like what he said and I could hear a voice in my head telling me to defend myself. To tell him how he was wrong. But then, I didn't. I listened to what he had to say, what he asked me to do, and I surrendered to it. I said, "You got it Dad. I'll do that. No problem." And he said to me, "Thank you." And then what was really cool was I saw that what my father was saying was true. That he was, in fact, right about what he was talking about, absolutely. And I just didn't want to see it. This book made it possible for me to really hear that. And it made it really possible for my father and I to have a magical relationship!

Letting Go of Inherited Behaviors

"How to create a Magical Relationship" is a wonderful book and it has made a definite impact on my life in general and on my relationship with my husband. I come from a cultural background where women dominate and men can never do it right, where fighting between two partners is often equated to love. This book showed me a new way of looking at myself, my life and my relationship. It opened me up to the possibility of having a real life partner rather than an opponent in a never-ending fight. The ideas are simple. Know yourself; be aware of the mechanical behaviors that have been passed on to you through your family line, be aware of your resistance to saying yes. Be aware of the toxic forces at work in your environment, and above all stop working on yourself and on your partner! The book reads very easily and it left me with a wonderful sense of what is possible to achieve in relationship. Relationships are not viewed as something to work on, fix or change but as another opportunity to experience intimacy at a deep and satisfying level. That sounds like enlightenment to me, and I like that!

This Book is Magic - Over and Over Again!

I was recently looking at one of my bookshelves for something to read as I settled in for the evening. I did not have anything particular in mind. What I was hoping was that a book would "choose me". One did. The book I picked up was "How to Create a Magical Relationship" by Ariel and Shya Kane. I smiled because I had already read the book a few months ago. I smiled again as I remembered how much it had to say and how much I had learned about relating when I read it the first time. So I took it off the shelf, got into bed, moved the pillows I was leaning on over closer to my wife and read it again. It was WAY past my bedtime before I put it down. It was like reading the book for the very first time, in one way; but in another way, it was entirely new. It also gave me the unexpected opportunity to see that my relationship with my wife had come a long way since the last reading. We just don't do the things we used to do that used to "get in the way of the magic" and we pro-actively do other things the book suggests that "create the magic". The book is direct, simple and powerful. If you are there for it, its simplicity and powerful principles combine to show you how the foundations of a magical relationship can be created. And it also reminds us that "relationships" are not static and neither is the "magic": both are renewable resources that must be cared for and nurtured moment to moment. The book is a guide as to how we can all do that. We're keeping the magic alive! You can too. A Connecticut Reader March 19, 2007
