The author's background is a small town CPA, which may account for his no BS approach. Simple (not simplistic) straightforward solid advice for anyone wishing to start a financial advisory practice.I'm have a CPA background and obtained my CFP several years ago, but never practiced financial planning, other than a brief foray working with an insurance company, which was an excercise in high pressure selling. Ugh! I wish I had this book back then!

This book gives a very good overview of life as a financial planner/consultant. Good for someone considering a career in the field, or new to the industry. More specific detail could be helpful, but this book is worth the money
Informative book recommended

I highly recommend this informative book. In a practical, straight forward manner it provides those considering financial planning as a career with all the tools they need to decide if this industry is for them. The fundamentals of what consultants do and how to enter the pofession are provided. By including a sample financial plan readers are able to see the power of planning in reaching a clients goals. Another topic covered better in this book than others I've read is the different ways individuals view money and how the consultant must possess good people skills if he is to be effective. Though it has been a number of years since he entered the financial services field himself, Mr. Ainsworth relates to the beginner in this beneficial book.
