A Must Read for All of our Young Adults!

In a world where we offer so little to our young adults for their psychological, physiological, rational, and spiritual health.....psychophysiological health....as Dr. Mamas refers to it.....this book gives us an excellent opportunity for dialog on the subject. This book has gotton us back to the basics for personal growth and self exploration in a way that no other author has been able to accomplish until now! Dr. Mamas offers a handbook for fullfillment in our lives, and the lives of those around us, that can be refered to time and time again. What a wonderful offering this has been to my 2 daughters that are college aged and embarking on their own paths in life. In fact colleges around the country would be wise to add this book to their psychology curriculum for those students interested in the health and wellbeing of others, and first and foremost, themselves.

Finally, someone has given clarity to all the Psychobable!

Mamas has given clarity and commen sense understanding to all the modern day Psychobable! This book is a priceless work of art. I absolutely treasure how he has blended psychological analysis with a more pragmatic spiritual approach to human understanding without compromising the humanity. This book is short, sweet and very much to the point without too much rhetoric and without compromise. Now I know why I've been shaking my head and rolling my eyes at all the current rhetoric about human psychology and am thrilled to know somebody else can see it and explain it so clearly. I've read it three times now and will likely keep it by my bedside for some time. I have strongly recommended it to friends, one of which has also read it three times and is still underlining passages and key points. This is a great process to engage this book. I feel much more settled and clear every time I read it. I never thought reading a book could actually inspire or cultivate inner peace. Amazing depth with so few words. I'd give it 10 Stars! Thank you so much, Dr. Mamas!

Excellent work on psychological health

Dr. Michael Mamas, the author of "Angels, Einstein and You" and "Consciousness Unfolding," has written a practical, easy-to-understand guide to psychological health. It can be used by both professional therapists and by individuals seeking to unlock the secrets to true psychophysiological health. Although short, the work is long on insights into the workings of the human psyche. Dr. Mamas clearly elucidates concepts such as stress, the self-correcting mechanism, identity, and motivation. His work goes beyond the main psychological theories of today, namely the behavioral, the cognitive, and the affective, to one based on the transgradient nature of psychophysiological health and ultimately of all existence. Thus, he breaks new theoretical ground yet provides many ideas that can have immediate practical application. In short, all psychotherapists and their clients should read this book!

I wish all therapists read this book!

I wish all therapists read this book. In my opinion, the author has a much more natural understanding of the human psyche than the typical understanding I find in the field of psychology - and that comes from having been both a consumer and a graduate student in the field. He made psychological (and some spiritual) terminology more meaningful and sensible to me than any other definitions I've found. The book is written in a personal way, taken from transcripts of Dr. Mamas' classes. You feel like you are in the room with him and his students as you read. Because of the questions that students ask throughout the text, and the questions that are in the book for the reader to answer, I was able to easily consider for myself the topics they were discussing, as I went along. It's a short little book but it's deep. I continue to read to it and refer to it.
