Required reading when considering a remodeling project
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 22 years ago
I purchased this book approximately 5 years ago and used it to help me through a major home renovation. The renovation was to add an entire floor to an existing split level ranch. The information in this book help me through every step of the process. From researching what was possible, through design and budgeting decisions, to actual execution of the plan. The book showed me how to be involved in every decision and the critical nature of pre-planning. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about undertaking a remodeling project. Especially all of those who think they know what is involved. They will be really suprised at how many details they don't know.

This book is a must read for anyone considering a home remodeling project. The book provides a step-by-step guide to acquiring the necessary information that will keep your project from becoming a nightmare. Further, it candidly identifies decision points where the project may or may not be feasible. The point of the book is not so much the completion of a given project as it is making sure that the reader has enough information to make sound, informed decisions. My wife and I are considering remodeling our home. I, a novice when it comes to this type of work, picked up this book on the recommendation of others and I'm glad I did. A remodeling project can be an overwhelming undertaking but this book will help you organize the critical pieces of information needed (in the order in which you need them) before embarking on a large scale home improvement project. If you're looking at remodeling or building your home and you are struggling with where to begin, your first step should be buying this book.
