With the help of his friends, Spider comes up with such a good disguise for Halloween that he impresses the neighborhood and saves himself and his friends from bullies.
Spider saved Valentines Day & Thanksgiving, but my favorite story was when he saved Halloween.I found out about this book when I was 5 years old and looking through my grandmother's library when I found the book. It's about a spider whom cannot find a halloween costume, while fly dresses up as a seven dwarf and ladybug dresses up as a witch. After trying on several costumes two bullies stop by and wreck spider's jack o' lantern.Spider find the perfect halloween costume and confronts the bullies, but will he be able to stop them from ruining halloween?
Spider once again saves the day!

The typical good triumphs over evil theme is the rule for this book. Spider's pal dresses up as a witch. Bad Bully Bugs seeking to ruin halloween descend on the neighborhood smashing pumpkins and being generally nasty critters. Little do they suspect that Spider's costume will be their undoing!!!An excellent read for all ages!!!

I first read this book when I was seven years old. It was a family favorite among my parents and 4 sisters. I am a first grade teacher and still have an old copy of How Spider Saved Halloween. Year after year it is my class's favorite book. The simple story and illustrations are very appealing to children. The story has several good lessons such as, nice guys finish first, and you can solve your own problems. The story revolves around a sweet ladybug, a grumpy fly and a kind but Charlie Brownish spider. When some Halloween bullies try to take the fun out of Halloween, Spider cleaverly devises a plan to save Halloween for his friends. An excellent book! Children will be reading this book all year long, it isn't just for Halloween.

This is a great book that I have enjoyed since childhood. My mom used to read this book to me when I was a little kid. At 21 years old I still read it with her every Halloween. Two important morals are brought up in this great story. The first is bullies are cowards and only pick on others because they are afraid of being picked on themselves. The second moral is that your friends are some of the most important people you can have. The problems you may have are not as important as helping with your friends problems. This book entails beautiful coloring in a very simple style. My brother had this story read to him and he has a family of his own. My sister grew up with this story as well and will read it to her little baby as she grows up. Every time I read this book, it gets better and brings back memories that otherwise may have been lost.
