Derty Tina

Trina resides in the projects with her mother, Lucinda, and her boyfriend, Maynard. Trina's life changes drastically - she is horribly molested by Maynard, becomes a young mother, and also develops sexual attraction for women. Trina then begins to turn to the streets for money yet gains attention; she became a hardcore female that has more guts than most men and made plenty money to prove it. She does whatever to get what she wants; whether it's money, drugs, or women. Trina also often has run-ends with the law, but it has never affected business because money rules and everyone loves money - including crooked cops. At the age of twenty-two, Trina is well-known as the infamous "Southeast Trina" - the girl pulls more money than the president. Trina is unknown to relatives but known on the streets. "How Do You Want It" by Darrell King is an exciting and riveting novel about a young female, Trina, that refuses to settle for less. This novel contained a lot of drama for any reader but yet it all seemed to be fiction. However, I did not enjoy the ending because I expected more to occur. I think I was too caught up in the story. I will look for more of Darrell's novels in the future. Reviewed by: Tekisha

Chocolate City's Gangstress

A young teen who was sexually abused at the age of 16 by her stepfather, which ultimately led to his demise, turned a little bag of $20 weed into millions. This gangstress had life by the horns and controlled most of Washington D.C. major drugs whether coming in or out, from east to west, north or south. Murder, corrupt police, dirty politicians, and gang warfare, and killings of notorious drug lords was only the beginning of the list of bloodshed that D.C. had to endure. What took Washington D.C. in awe was a cold-hearted diva, with an iron fist, ride or die attitude, a heart that pumped vengeance for blood, and reported to have one of the largest criminal organizations in Washington was ruled by one the most hard-core women, that revolutionized drugs on the way of the streets of Chocolate City was a woman called Katrina Ricks. I think the author tried too hard to develop the the main female character as a hard core diva. The slang used and the events portrayed seem to be too over the top. I did find this story to start off slow and take awhile to get into, but if you keep reading the plot start to unfold and the story gets incresingly interesting.
