This volume represents poems written 2007-2012, during what the author lately has been thinking of as her "Haiti Years," a period of her life that started with her visit to Haiti in the summer of 2007. Yet since she has never resided in Haiti, the term "my Haiti years" is really just a poetic construction, a way to organize her thoughts and some of her writings around a theme that has been close to her heart since long before 2007.
