From Formula One, to the Indy 500 and the Champ Series ... a HOT book to consider!

If you think NASCAR racing cars are hot, just take a look at those speed demons at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Now these cars will blow your socks off and fire up your imagination big time! They race around the track at more than 200 mph and "their engines fill the air with an ear-rattling buzz that sounds like a huge swarm of killer bees." In this book you'll find out all about the specs of these cars, including little details like their engines are in the back (NASCAR cars are in the front) and their drivers are in an open cockpit. If you are an Indy fan, you probably know this already. Racers like Michael Schumacher are super-superstars and earn megabucks. Michael earned $80 million in one year! There are a lot of interesting photographs and facts in this book. In the olden days at the Indy, a race car had two seats, one for the driver, the other for his mechanic. You'll learn about safety, the "survival cell," cart stats, portable garages, practice sessions, pit crews and more. Did you know a "good pit crew can change all four tires and refuel a car in less than then seconds?!" You'll also meet racing families (the Andrettis, Foyts, Mears and Unsers) and some of the all-time best, including women such as Danica Patrick. This book is loaded with facts and photos. There are Wild Facts, sidebars, a glossary, index and further recommended reading and internet addresses. There are up to twenty people who work in the pit crew. Can you tell me what the Lollipop man does? If you know, you are already too smart for this book!
