Like the ocean: deep and beautiful (but scholarly)

I'm just aghast that it's out of print. I remember it very fondly, especially his appropriation of the French Philosopher Paul Ricoeur. This is probably the most moving discussion of "hospitality" that I have ever read. I have been working a lot with Ricoeur's idea of "catharsis" recently, as it relates to Ancient Greek society: Theatre as a way of purging negative emotions, and celebrating positive ones. Ogletree's book is not the place to look for this part of Ricoeur. But his book, perhaps because of a recent "bringing together of diverse contrasts into vivid harmony" (Whitehead), seems especially appropriate now. By the way, I didn't find his book on ethics and the bible as moving (no insult intended).
