heart rendering read

I was able to get through chapter eight before had to leave Chritmas gift recipient's home for my abode. I had to leave the book behind, with the assurance that it will be shared with me later. This is a sad/glad book, one that will benefit animal lovers everywhere (especially veterinary want-to-bees,as is my 12 year old granddaughtr.) There are accounts that are hard to read - but are "life". My grandaughter actually taped blank paper over photos that "were painful". Two of them actually. This book will spear people (me) to know best how to "help" as a volunteer should the need arise on down the road.Horses of the Storm: The Incredible Rescue of Katrina's Horses

Bittersweet Memories

It is both painful and a soul inspiring rush to read Ky's book. Painful because it brings back the actual memories of living the experience of the rescue; perhaps the most important operation in our lives. Inspiring because it conjures up recollections of working beside such great individuals as Ky, Dr. Rusty Moore, Dr. French, Bonnie Clark and Jerry Finch. Ky has not only accurately recalled the facts of the time but he has successfully captured the essence and ambiance of the moment. It is truly moving each time the book is read. A masterpiece at cutting out that period of time and displaying it before the reader in a smooth and easy manner in which to relate to. Fantastic job. This book sit's in very special place in our library and it's utilitarian inserts draw us back time after time as a reference. Thank you,Ky, for taking the time to pull this project together; for if readers follow your instructions and plan for a disaster in advance the amount of suffering, both human and animal, will be largely reduced and the greater good will be served. Horses of the Storm

I really liked this book. It was hard to read sometimes being a horse owner living in Florida, but it also taught me a few things and thank God for the the group of men and women who took the time out of their own lives to save all these wonderful creatures. We could never thank them enough. GREAT READ!

We Can Be Heroes

This is a heartfelt story of heroes and the will to survive under the most tragic circumstances. In the aftermath of the August 29, 2005, devastating destruction of Katrina, the untold suffering was not just felt by vast numbers of residents in the Gulf Coast area. The book chronicles the tireless work by Louisiana State University's Equine Rescue Team to rescue the animals in oftentimes very dangerous circumstances.
