You've got this far for a reason....

This book is just as good as the last two...In fact better as more things are made clear, plans are set into motion and other things are introduced into the mix. Mr. Anderson does not abuse his position as author by playing God. I mean that in the sense that he doesn't pull things out of his butt to solve problems. It really defines the word "struggle", the way he lays things out on paper. As some other reviewers may have complained, Mr. Anderson is not about quick fixes or the obvious. He had me guessing several times and I was completely wrong in my assumptions on where he was going; and quite pleasantly surprised. He does not insult your intelligence by spoon-feeding you and he also does not sell-out by resorting to "instant gratification" tactics that some authors do. Also, he wont hold your hand. Everything is well thought out and very plausible. The depth of this series gets deeper and deeper, either you swim through the sea of imagination that he so expertly sets out before you...Or drown in confusion and frustration...Then take it out on the book by writing a bad review. If you pay attention and let it flow you will be rewarded with a great story. If you don't have the patients or ability to quell attempts at trying so hard to find flaws or one-upping Mr. Anderson with what "you" would do, then best to walk away. Already halfway into book 4 and loving it!

Epic indeed

I am thoroughly enjoying the series. The first book was rather complex upfront, and therefore confusing and less enjoyable, but once you have familiarity with Anderson's universe, it is a very enjoyable read. Horizon Storms (book 3) progresses the storyline to the point where potential for story-ending conflict seems at its highest. The interrelationship between the elemental beings (hydrogues, faeros, worldforest, wentils) is becoming more understood. I am eager to get to book 4.

A great story continues

Kevin J. Anderson continues to improve his writing expertise and storytelling abilities. This was a hard series to get started on since it has close to a dozen different plotlines covering vast galaxies and multiple races besides humans. Once you're hooked though, it's hard to put down. Great character development and story should make this a vital series for years to come (although I hope it doesn't go too long like the lost series of Robert Jordan). Can't wait to read Book #4.

Couldn't put it down!!!

Just like every other KJAnderson book I've read; I could not put it down! I read half of it the 1st night I had it. He is one of my favorite authors. His Star Wars books (trilogy) was the greatest; I read each of those twice; all in 2days or less. I can't wait for the 4th to be available in paperback. To those that rated it low you must be missing something or have too high expectations!

Great extension of the series

Well, after finishing the book in two days I am left feeling sad, knowing that I have to wait until the next book is released. The Saga of the Seven Suns series has been a tremendous surprise for me and has become one of my favorite series of all time. In this third book, the plots begin to thicken with betrayals and the focus being closer to the characters and the various races than on the external war. This is one of those series in which I have truly begun to care for the chracters, and about what happens to them. I find myself actually annoyed or upset when something bad happens to them, and that is a true sign of a great book. If you didn't like the first two you probably won't like this one, but for me that certainly wasn't a concern. I highly reccomend it if you liked the first two books.
